A year after its arrival back in 2023, it looks like Meta’s Threads social platform has finally reached its largest monthly active user base ever, totalling at 175 million. The news was broken by Meta big boss Mark Zuckerberg online, who unsurprisingly posted the update from his Threads account.
Launched as a rival of sorts to Twitter/X, Threads borrowed a lot of similar concepts from the now-privately owned social media platform, with a rather different approach from Meta’s other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. While it did launch with a bare-bones feature set, the app has since improved over the past year with more features gradually added to it.
One could argue though that Threads’ rise in active users was in part due to being able to easily log into the site with an Instagram account, which did make the transition process somewhat easy. With that being said though it looks like Meta has slowly developed it to feel a bit more “independent” from Instagram.
