For buyers shopping around for affordable tablets, Amazon’s Fire-series devices have always proven to be a nice alternative, especially for more moderate usage such as media streaming, video calls, and basic entertainment. As such, the Amazon Fire HD 8 is currently up for grabs for a much lower price of $65, down from its usual hundred-dollar price.
The Amazon Fire HD 8 serves as the midrange model in Amazon’s tablet selection, slotting just between the Fire 10 and 7 tablets. The device runs on a modified version of Android that’s been custom-fitted to work with Amazon’s own selection of apps, services, and subscription platforms, making it a no-brained for buyers who have no qualms with going all-in on Amazon’s services.
In terms of hardware specifications, the tablet features up to 13 hours of battery life, an 8-inch display for web browsing, ebook sessions and media streaming, up to 64GB of internal storage (plus an SD card slot) and 2GB of RAM, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a chassis that Amazon says is designed to be relatively sturdy. Also included are a suite of Amazon apps, and compatibility with the Alexa voice assistant.
