For the longest time ever, Sonos was known for their wireless speakers. But yesterday, the company teased the upcoming launch of their first-ever pair of headphones. This marks the first time Sonos has expanded its portfolio beyond speakers, and now they have introduced the Sonos Ace.
The Sonos Ace features a very sleek design. We can’t help but feel that some of the design might have been inspired by Apple’s AirPods Max. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it looks very stylish and simple. According to Sonos, the reason for the design was to minimize confusion when using them.
There are buttons to help users turn it on and off, activate Bluetooth, enable or disable ANC, and a button Sonos is calling the “Content Button” that lets users control music playback. It can also be used to connect it directly to a Sonos sound bar. This can be useful if you’re watching something on TV and want to switch to the headphones quickly.
Other features of the Sonos Ace includes support for Snapdragon Sound and aptX Lossless, and Dolby Atmos spatial audio. There is active noise cancellation, and according to the company, will last up to 30 hours on a single charge. Unfortunately, the Sonos Ace does not come cheap. They are priced at $449 which is a hard sell considering there are cheaper alternatives.
