If you think about it, AI is a lot like human beings. It knows nothing until it is taught, and from there it can learn and think for itself. This is why data used for training is important, and what better place to source for more human-generated content than the front page of the internet – Reddit. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that OpenAI and Reddit are partnering up together.
A post on Reddit has revealed that they will be partnering with OpenAI for future AI developmental efforts. According to the post, OpenAI will bring Reddit-sourced content to ChatGPT and future products. This means that the company will be able to train its ChatGPT model using content sourced from Reddit.
The partnership will also benefit Reddit. The company says that this will allow them to bring AI features to users and mods, although what exactly this will look like remains to be seen. Reddit is an extremely popular platform in terms of user-generated content. It covers a wide variety of topics which means that OpenAI’s ChatGPT can learn about all sorts of things, and in turn provide valuable answer to users in the future.
There is a lot of value in Reddit’s content. We had previously heard that even Google is interested. An earlier report suggested that Google was paying Reddit as much as $60 million a year to access its APIs.
