MediaTek Extends its Dominance with the New Dimensity 9300+

0

MediaTek has finally announced its most powerful SoC to date, the Dimensity 9300+. As with a ton of modern SoCs within the past few year, the company says that it’s designed the 9300+ with an emphasis on GenAI capabilities, as well as gaming and overall performance.

The 9300+ features an “All-Big-Core” design with a 3rd generation TSMC 4nm process, one Arm Cortex-X4 core operating at up to 3.4 GHz, plus three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores.

MediaTek says that the APU 790 engine inside is capable of faster and more secure on-device AI processing particularly with Gen AI applications for text, image, and music generation, all running directly on-device. There’s also integrated LoRA Fusion support, paving the way for faster AI tasks with NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration, and broader AI applications via ExecuTorch Delegation.

For display support, the Dimensity 9300+ supports WQHD at 180Hz or 4K at 120Hz, and also uses an AI depth engine for “enhanced” visuals. Interestingly, MediaTek also says that it integrates anti-burn-in technology for AMOLED screens, a much-welcome feature for sure.

Going back to performance and gaming, the new chipset’s 12-core GPU supports gameplay up to 90FPS with HDR visuals in popular online titles, alongside 20% better power efficiency. The 9300+ also comes with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, allowing for console-quality lighting effects at a steady 60FPS with the new Immortalis-G720 engine. All this is kept cool with MediaTek’s HyperEngine technology with MAGT, which the company says is designed for prolonged use.

For camera support, MediaTek has equipped the new SoC with its Imagiq 990 technology, and features 18-bit RAW ISP, AI-videography and zero latency video preview. Take advantage of its AI Semantic Analysis Video Engine with 16 categories of scene segmentation adjustment for more visually enhanced cinematic video capture.

With all that said, we can expect to see the Dimensity 9300+ arrive later this month on devices from Vivo and iQOO.
