The Switch 2 will Supposedly get Magnetic Joy-Cons, Leak Claims

Over the past several months we’ve had quite a number of leaks and rumors surrounding Nintendo’s mysterious Switch successor, and while there’s nothing absolutely confirmed at the moment, it looks like a new set of leaks regarding the console’s hardware setup has been making rounds online, giving us a possible idea of what the “Switch 2” might end up like.

A new report from Spanish website Vandal indicates that the Switch 2’s design will include a magnetic connection setup for the Joy-Cons, a rather different approach to the rail-based system that the current Switch uses. If true, this means that current Joy-Con models might not work with the upcoming console, which is also predicted to be slightly larger than the current model.

On the other hand, the report also claims that the current Switch Pro Controller – which has a more standard design – will be compatible with the newer console. This isn’t the first time that Vandal has reported on Nintendo leaks – the site earlier on leaked information about the then-unreleased Switch OLED, many of which were accurately confirmed.

Early leaks regarding the Switch 2’s launch date predicted a 2024 release, although it’s now believed that Nintendo will unveil the console next year.
