It’s not exactly a terrific time for Blizzard fans right now – the much-awaited annual Blizzon 2024 has been officially cancelled, as confirmed by a direct announcement from Blizzard. With that said though, the company wasn’t too clear on the main reasons for the cancellation of the event – part of Blizzard’s official statement reads:
After careful consideration over the last year, we at Blizzard have made the decision not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it. While we’re approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.
The company does state that it will continue to give fans major updates regarding upcoming launches including “World of Warcraft: The War Within” as well as Diablo IV’s “Vessel of Hatred” expansion. Blizzard adds that it will soon share plans for other industry events such as Gamescom, in addition to global in-person events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft.
