Last year, Xiaomi was the world’s first smartphone maker to launch a handset powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It looks like the company could be poised to achieve another world first. This is according to a report from tipster Yogesh Brar. They claim that Xiaomi could be the first to launch a smartphone using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
Brar claims that Xiaomi apparently still holds the exclusive rights to be the first to launch a new phone using Qualcomm’s new chipset. The company is expected to be followed by OpenPlus and iQOO. According to Brar, the handsets in question are the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, the OnePlus 13, and the iQOO 13.

This is actually kind of interesting that Xiaomi apparently has the exclusive rights. Typically whenever Qualcomm launches a new flagship chipset, we only see it in phones the following year. Samsung used to be one of the first handset makers to use it. Now it looks like Xiaomi has claimed those rights.
Qualcomm has recently confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will launch in October, which means that Xiaomi could launch their new phones around then. We’re not sure what kind of specs the Xiaomi 15 will be packing, but we can’t wait to find out.
