You can now send HD photos in Facebook Messenger

Usually media files sent over messenger apps tend to be compressed. This is because with so many files being sent daily, it can cause a slowdown in transfer speeds. It can also end up eating up more storage on the recipient’s phone. But in case you need to send higher quality images, Facebook Messenger will now let you send photos in HD quality.

Keep in mind that there will still be some compression even when sending photos in HD on Messenger. But overall, it seems that the quality will still be much better compared to regular photos and will retain a lot more details. If this feature sounds familiar, it is because Meta had enabled the feature on WhatsApp last year. Now it has finally made its way to Messenger.

In addition to sending higher quality photos, Messenger has also been updated to support larger files. If you need to send larger documents or media files over the messenger platform, the app now supports files of up to 100MB in size. It will support a variety of formats, including more widely-used formats like Word, PDF, and Excel.

This update should be rolling out as we speak so make sure you have the latest version of the app installed on your phone. If you don’t see it available yet, don’t worry as it should eventually make its way to you.
