Looks like the Star Wars: KOTOR Remake is Still Under Development

Following several months of radio silence on the upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, it looks like developer Saber Interactive has now issued a formal statement of sorts regarding the game’s current status, and whether or not it’s still coming out as expected.

Speaking to the folks over at IGN, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch says that the company included KOTOR after splitting from Embracer Group. He adds that the title is still in active development, which does add a bit of reassurance for fans looking forward to the remake. He comments:

“It’s clear and it’s obvious that we’re working on this… It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”

The original KOTOR game was a hit especially among Star Wars fans, especially as its role-playing mechanics and expansive story allowed players to immerse themselves within the far reaches of Star Wars’ expanded universe, in a time long before Disney took over the reigns from George Lucas.

It only made sense that a modern remake with improved visuals would revive the fandom, as witnessed when the remake was announced back in 2021. With that being said however, there’s no definite release date yet. The remake was initially handled by Aspyr studios, although Saber Interactive took over development afterwards.
