Xiaomi is no stranger when it comes to foldable phones. The company has launched foldables similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series in the past. But one form factor they have yet to launch is the flip phone. That is expected to change soon as Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its first flip phone.
According to a report from Android Headlines, they have come across HyperOS source code that seemingly reveals the potential camera sensors of the upcoming Xiaomi MIX Flip. Assuming it’s accurate, the MIX Flip will feature the use of a 60MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. It uses a OmniVision OV60A sensor alongside a 50MP OmniVision OVX800 sensor.
This is a larger sensor compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. For context, the Flip 5 has a dual camera setup consisting of a wide 12MP with a 1/1.76-inch sensor and an ultrawide 12MP sensor. On paper, this pales in comparison compared to the rumored MIX Flip’s camera specs.
Of course, megapixels don’t tell the whole story and software is just as important. The Flip 5’s cameras are decent. They’re not necessarily the best, especially when compared to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S-series. Ultimately, the Xiaomi MIX Flip flip phone could be a better choice for those who want to be able to take better photos.
