Meet AI Eraser, OnePlus’ Own Take on AI Photo Editing

We suppose one can say that Google’s Magic Eraser feature jumpstarted a trend among various smartphone brands, with each manufacturer now offering a means to use AI for quick and easy photo editing. As such, OnePlus recently announced that it will be rolling a new “AI Eraser” feature for select devices, starting this April.

If you’re familiar with Magic Eraser (or even the Samsung equivalent), OnePlus’ AI Eraser works very similarly – with the feature, users can select unwanted visual elements in the background of a photo, draw a line around them and essentially remove them from the picture. The AI then fills in the empty spot depending on the context of the photo.

As for which devices the feature will arrive for, OnePlus says that it will roll out for handsets including the OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Open. As mentioned earlier, users can expect AI Eraser to start appearing on their devices this month, while folks in Europe will get the feature sometime during Q2 2024.
