Google Begins to Roll-out Custom Contact Ringtones for Pixel Users

0

If you’ve ever wanted to assign a particular ringtone for specific people in your Pixel phone’s contact list, then it looks like you’ll be able to do so soon – reports are coming in that Google has began rolling out a new feature on the Google Contacts app, which lets users assign specific ringtones for certain numbers.

The change was highlighted by tech reporter Mishaal Rahman over on Twitter/X, where he notes that a dedicated “contact ringtones” page has started appearing for some users on version 4.27.26 of the app. Not all users have received the feature however, so it seems that the update is done from the server-side of things.

With all that being said, the feature is not exactly a new one, with older phones and such having it built-in from the get-go. Even other Android brands such as Samsung have had a similar feature for a while now, leading some to question Google’s tardiness in implementing this particular feature. Either way, it’s a welcome piece of added functionality for sure which should come in handy for a lot of Pixel users.
