Not impressed with Google Gemini? You’re not alone

Google wasted no time in trying to catch up with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The company worked quickly and launched its new LLM called Gemini in 2023. According to early performance reviews, Google Gemini seems to be more than capable of holding its own against ChatGPT, but it seems that’s not enough to impress.

According to a post on Reddit, there are a number of users who are expressing their dissatisfaction with Google Gemini. This is mainly because of how Google has essentially replaced Google Assistant with its new AI. Users are complaining of how it basically removed assistant-like functionality and replaced it with a chatbot.

That being said, as some have pointed out in the comments to the post, Google Assistant wasn’t all that great when it first launched. Over time and through feedback, Google Assistant managed to grow to where it became quite useful. This means that users should just remain patient and hope that eventually, Gemini will reach a similar level.

However, we can also see the other side of the coin, where Google should have at least kept Gemini and Google Assistant separate until things were better integrated. Thankfully, Gemini with Assistant isn’t widely available around the world yet. There are still some Android users who have the option of using Google Assistant in its current form. But what do you think? Are you a fan of the new Gemini with Assistant?
