Foldable phones are gaining in popularity. It was initially a form factor that some, including us, initially dismissed, but yet it has managed to endure for pretty much half a decade. Now it looks like Apple could be getting closer to launching their own foldable iPhone as soon as 2026.
This is according to a report out of South Korea which claims that Apple has actually moved up their timeline. It seems Apple had initially planned to launch the device in 2027, but moved it up one year earlier to 2026. This means that we’re only a couple of years away from seeing a foldable iPhone.
That being said, this report should be taken with a grain of salt. This is because it was only last month that another report suggested that Apple had actually paused development on their foldable phone. Apparently this had something to do with the display’s durability which was not up to Apple’s standards.
It is no secret that Apple is interested in the tech. There have been numerous patents filed in the past that have shown Apple’s interest in foldable display technology. Also, Apple isn’t really the type to hop on the bandwagon just because. Either way, it will be interesting to see if Apple’s approach to a foldable smartphone will be different. Until then, don’t get your hopes up.
