Following Google’s move to bring its Circle to Search feature to the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, it looks like the company’s slightly older flagship handsets will also be able to upload higher-quality content on Instagram, thanks to the March 2024 feature drop for select Pixel phones.
With the new update, users will be able to capture and share 10-bit HDR videos directly on Instagram Reels, in addition to Ultra HDR uploads on Instagram as well. This new functionality will be available for both the Pixel 7 series, as well as the Pixel 8 series phones. There’s no mention about the Pixel 7a however, despite it having a lot of the same features as on the base model Pixel 7.

The ability to upload content on Instagram via Pixel has been a point of contention with users previously, with some complaining that Instagram photos and videos originally taken on Pixel devices didn’t match the quality of those shot on iPhones. Of course this is a subjective matter, but the update is a welcome addition nonetheless.
As mentioned earlier, the latest feature drop also includes the Circle to Search feature, which makes the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro the latest Android phones to get the new feature. With that in mind, Circle to Search is not exclusive to Pixel devices, as phones like Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series also support the feature. Google adds that Circle to Search will also be available for “other compatible non-Pixel devices” in the future.”
