Google recently announced that it’s added a handful of useful new updates to the Chrome web browser’s search function, which provide some handy functions to users’ search sessions. Three new features are now available for desktop and mobile devices, including both Android and iOS.
First up are related suggestions based on a users’ past searches – upon signing into Chrome and opening a new tab on desktop, users will be greeted by suggestions in the Google Search box related to their previous searches, based on similar things that other users are looking for. For example, if a user recently searched for “Japchae,” they might see suggestions for other popular Korean dishes.
Up next is a new image search feature for mobile, which will now show helpful images for broader shopping categories and products based on a simpler search. Previously, Chrome only showed images for search suggestions in the address bar that matched specific items that were being looked up.
Perhaps out of the three new updates, the third one is the most interesting (and arguably the best one yet) – Chrome on Android and iOS will now feature allow users to access search suggestions even if they have poor network connectivity on their device. Google says that the feature works via on-device capabilities, and even gives users helpful suggestions when in Incognito Mode.
Google states that the new features will be available immediately.
