The Nubia Neo 2 is a Wallet-friendly Gaming Phone
Aside from ASUS, its been a while since we’ve seen dedicated gaming phones from major Android manufacturers. With that in mind, Nubia recently announced the Nubia Neo 2, which the company claims is a budget “gaming” handset. What sets it apart from most other phones on the market are the capacitive trigger buttons on the sides of the phone, although there’s a bit more to the device itself.
Aside from the lively and gamer-centric design, the Nubia Neo 2 features a large 6.72-inch display upfront, which comes with an FHD+ resolution, in addition to a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The phone’s look is certainly something else, featuring a bright color palette and sharp angles all around.
Perhaps one major point of consideration is the chipset inside the Neo 2, a Unisoc T820 SoC that’s backed up by 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Unisoc’s chipsets aren’t exactly known for their performance, and to see one inside a phone that’s marketed as a gaming device is a bit of a head-scratcher. Benchmark scores for the T820 don’t seem promising either, and it’s clear that cost played a major factor with this configuration.
This whole setup is powered by a relatively-large 6,000 mAh capacity battery, with support for 33W fast-charging. The Nubia Neo 2 will be priced at $199.
