Xiaomi Takes on Premium Tablet Rivals with the Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro

The arrival of more capable mobile chipsets in the past few years has guaranteed an onslaught of Android devices which pack a punch when it comes to performance, and it looks like Xiaomi’s newest tablet is a good example of this. Announced at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, the Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro is designed to take on competing devices in the premium Android tablet segment.

The Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and while it isn’t exactly a new chip it’s still a considerable SoC especially in terms of overall performance. This is backed by a 8GB+256GB base memory configuration, although buyers can opt for a more souped-up 12GB+512GB variant.

Wrapped up in the tablet’s sleek aluminum chassis is a sharp 12-inch 3K resolution display with support for an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate. Perhaps some downsides to the display is that it maxes out at 900 nits which isn’t terribly bright, and it features an LCD panel instead of an OLED screen. Still, the 3048×2032 pixel resolution is nothing to scoff at, and should be ideal for content consumption.

Xiaomi hasn’t skimped out on camera hardware either – the tablet packs a main camera that comes with a 50MP resolution, aided by a 2MP depth sensot; the front meanwhile features a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls. Video recording maxes out at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second – there’s no dedicated camera kit here unlike with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, but for an Android tablet this is a setup that doesn’t disappoint.

As with the Xiaomi 14 series, the tablet runs on HyperOS, which succeeds Xiaomi’s older MIUI Android skin. It also carries the latest Android 14 platform version, which comes with some of the latest features for Google’s mobile operating system.

The tablet is powered by a massive 10,000 mAh battery, with support for 120W charging speeds – Xiaomi says that a 35-minute charge can completely refill the battery up to 100%.
