There were rumors last year suggesting that Samsung could be working on a smart ring. The company later confirmed this at the end of their Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this year. Now at MWC 2024, Samsung has officially taken the wraps off their smart ring – the Galaxy Ring.
During the showcase at MWC 2024, the Galaxy Ring was shown off in three finishes – gold, silver, and ceramic black. It is also offered in nine sizes, with the smallest weighing a mere 2.3 grams, while the largest model weighs 2.9 grams. The Galaxy Ring’s inner circumference features an array of sensors that offers features like sleep and cycle tracking.
It can also be used to track heart rate, respiratory rate, night movement, and sleep latency. While the Galaxy Ring might seem like an alternative to a smartwatch like the Galaxy Watch, Samsung says that using the smart ring together with the watch will help capture even higher quality data. You don’t have to, but if you’re particular about these kinds of things then you can consider it.
Samsung says that what we are looking at right now is still a prototype. This means that things could be subject to change upon its release. Right now, there’s no word when it will be available on how much it will cost.
