Looking for an Affordable Wear OS Device? Xiaomi has it Covered

While Samsung and Google have mostly been the “popular” poster children for Wear OS, Xiaomi’s recently-launched Xiaomi Watch 2 does make for an attractive offer thanks to the reasonably-affordable price point. Powered by Wear OS, it’s a nice addition that should give users access to Google’s wearable software platform without breaking the bank.

The watch is crafted from an aluminum alloy material, and is relatively safe for use in splashy situations thanks to 5ATM water resistance. There’s a 1.43-inch AMOLED display upfront which is flanked by two control buttons on the right hand side, giving users full control over the watch with touch and physical controls.

The watch runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5+Gen 1 Wearable platform, which is combined with a 495 mAh battery that according to Xiaomi can last for up to 64 hours of typical usage. For context, that’s around two and a half days’ worth of usage, which is pretty impressive especially compared to most smartwatches which can barely last more than a day.

As for software, the Xiaomi Watch 2 supports over 160 sports modes, in addition to features such as dual-band L1+L5 GNSSas well as compatibility with apps from Strava and Suunto, in addition to the usual add-ons like Mi Fitness, which does pack a wealth of Xiaomi-exclusive health tracking modes.

As for price, the Xiaomi Watch 2 comes in at around 199 EUR and 199 GBP (available in black and silver variants), and can be purchased from Xiaomi’s official website.
