Lenovo unveils the second-gen ThinkPad X12 Detachable
Tablets and laptops are designed to be mobile and portable devices. Some might prefer a laptop over a tablet and vice versa, although both have their share of pros and cons. But what if you could have both? That’s what Lenovo is trying to solve with the ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2 is a laptop-tablet hybrid computer. While some hybrids involve a keyboard that can be folded to the back, the ThinkPad X12 Detachable adopts a similar design as the Microsoft Surface where the keyboard can be detached from the computer.
This gives users the option of using it entirely as a tablet minus the weight and bulk of a keyboard, or using it as a laptop if they want to type up long documents or emails. Under the hood, the device is powered by the latest-generation Intel Core Ultra U series processor. It has a 12.3-inch WUXGA display and can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM. It can also go up to 1TB of PCIe Gen4x4 SSD storage.
The laptop is also catered towards working professionals, thanks to its optional CAT16 4G WWAN support. This means that users can use 4G connectivity instead of relying on WiFi to go online. There is a built-in 5MP camera on the front for video calls, and an 8MP camera on the back if you need to take photos.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable Gen 2 will be available this April and is priced starting at $1,399.
