Oppo Announces Big Strides in AI with New Facility and Upcoming Features

0
The push towards generative AI in today’s tech landscape has certainly not gone unnoticed, with company after company jumping on the trend. With that in mind, Chinese tech giant Oppo recently announced that it has established the Oppo AI Center, which will focus on work towards strengthening Oppo’s AI capabilities, and work on a wider range of user-centric AI products and features.
Additionally, the company also announced that the Oppo Reno 11 Series will receive new generative AI features starting in Q2 2024, which will include visual editing functions such as the Oppo AI Eraser and more. Pete Lau, Chief Product Officer of Oppo states:
“Following feature phones and smartphones, next-gen AI Smartphones will represent the third major transformative stage in the mobile phone industry. In the era of AI Smartphones, both the mobile phone industry and user experience will witness revolutionary changes… OPPO is dedicated to becoming a contributor and promoter of AI Smartphones. We look forward to working together with our industry partners to jointly drive the innovation of the mobile phone industry and reshape the intelligent experience of mobile phones.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Oppo has released its own large language model called “AndesGPT,” which the company says comprises as many as 180 billion parameters. With that being said, we can expect the company to continue bringing over new AI features to future devices, starting with the Reno 11 series.
