As far as workflow chat apps go, Slack is definitely up there with the top players in terms of features and functionality. With that in mind, the team behind Slack recently announced that users will be able to use generative AI tools with their workflows and communication, known as “Slack AI.”
With Slack AI, users will be able to get personalized search answers with direct citations to relevant messages in the Slack app, channel recaps and thread summaries that give users a rundown of discussions in chats, as well as key highlights in channels. Denise Dresser, Slack CEO states:

These new AI capabilities empower our customers to access the collective knowledge within Slack so they can work smarter, move faster, and spend their time on things that spark real innovation and growth. In the era of generative AI, Slack is the trusted, conversational platform that connects every part of a business to supercharge team productivity.”
With that being said, the new generative AI features will be built directly into Slack, and will not require any additional training for users. It should be noted that Slack AI will be available as a paid add-on for Enterprise plans, with support for English, while additional plans and language support will be coming soon.
