Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 leaked specs hint at INSANE clock speeds!

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 introduced a lot of improvements and new features. But if you thought that was peak Qualcomm, think again. Tipster Digital Chat Station made a post on Weibo where they revealed the potential specs of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This comes in the form of a clock speed of 4.0GHz.

For context, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 features a Cortex-X4 Prime CPU core clocked at 3.3GHz. The jump to 4.0GHz is massive and those are gains that can definitely be felt. It is unclear what kind of configuration the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will use, but it is rumored to be built using TSMC’s 3nm process.

The leaked specs are also saying that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 could feature the use of two high-performance cores. Assuming the report is accurate, it will be interesting to see how other manufacturers fare against Qualcomm. MediaTek recently confirmed that their Dimensity 9400 chipset will launch in Q4 2024.

The chipset is rumored to pack a single Cortex-X5 core, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores, and will also rely on TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process. MediaTek has been steadily catching up to Qualcomm in recent years. It will be a battle to see which chipset prevails.
