Over the years, Samsung has gotten a lot of flack for using Exynos chipsets in their flagship phones. That’s why the return of the Exynos chipset for the Galaxy S24 lineup disappointed many. However, before you become too bummed out, there might be a silver lining here.
A post on Korean website dcinside (which has since been taken down) benchmarked the Exynos 2400 against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. If you’re a gamer, these benchmarks are pretty promising. It shows that the Exynos 2400 managed to hold its own in the 3D Mark Solar Bay Stress Test.
3DMark Solar Bay Stress Test of Galaxy S24 Ultra has been revealed. The stability seems to be…. disastrous level.
S24U : MAX 8249 / MIN 3984 / STA 48.3 %
Meanwhile, for Exynos 2400,
S24+ : MAX 8905 / MIN 5755 / STA 64.6 %https://t.co/Eerft3sNID— Quadrans Muralis (@QaM_Section31) January 18, 2024
The benchmarks tested the ray tracing capabilities of the chipset’s GPU and found that it achieved a maximum score of 8,905 and a minimum score of 5,755 and a stability of 64.6%. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, on the other hand, managed a maximum and minimum score of 8,249 and 3,894 respectively, with a stability score of 64%.
This suggests that the Exynos 2400 might actually be a more capable chipset when it comes to gaming, especially if you play for extended periods of time. Keep in mind that the Exynos variant is for the base Galaxy S24 model and the Galaxy S24+. It will also only be available for some regions outside the US.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will exclusively power the Galaxy S24 Ultra across all regions. This doesn’t imply that the Exynos 2400 is “better”. Instead, if the Exynos variant is available in your region, it might not necessarily be a bad thing
