The microphones on our smartphones have come a long way since the early days. These days, thanks to the use of improved hardware and software, our smartphone microphones do a pretty good job of recording audio. That doesn’t mean that improvements can’t be made. If you need better audio, then the new DJI Mic 2 could be a great accessory.
The DJI Mic 2 builds upon the original DJI Mic with some improvements. DJI is keeping the OLED screen but has increased its size. They have also tossed in a physical dial. This makes it easier for users to see and make adjustments from the microphone itself if necessary.
DJI is also making it easier for users to use the microphones by removing the need for a receiver. There is a receiver, but if users want to use it without, they can thanks to Bluetooth. This allows them to quickly pair it with a smartphone or a computer. Keep in mind that by using the DJI Mic 2 in this fashion, you will lose some functionality like AI noise canceling.
DJI has also improved the sound recording quality. They are adding support for 32-bit float internal recording. The company claims that this allows the Mic 2 to adapt to various environments, especially where sound levels may be erratic. The Mic 2 will also come with a battery of up to 6 hours of operating time. The charging case extends this up to 18 hours.
If you’re interested in the Mic 2, it is priced at $349 for the complete package. This includes the receiver, two transmitters, a charging case, and a bunch of cables and accessories.
