If you own an older LG smart TV, then your hardware might be eligible for a fresh new update, at least in terms of software – LG announced that it will be bringing over the latest webOS platform upgrade to select models, which will bring new home entertainment hub features to their TVs.
Scheduled for a rollout starting in early 2024, LG will bring the latest webOS upgrade to every model in its 2022 OLED TV lineup, which includes the LG OLED Flex, LG OLED Objet Collection Posé as well as LG’s 2022 QNED Mini LED 8K (QNED99/95 series), with a promised support timeline of up to five years. LG adds that the software update will eventually arrive for more LG TV models globally.
The latest version of webOS includes several features such as a personalized home screen, a customizable user interface, as well as a “Quick Card” UI feature that automatically sorts content and services categories such as music, games and sports, in a more modernized layout. LG also says that the new update comes with some updates to security.
Just recently, the company announced that it will be showcasing its new line of OLED smart TVs during CES 2024 in Las Vegas, to be held from January 9-12.
