The Pokemon franchise has been on a roll, recently – following the launch of the “Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk” DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet back in December, the team behind the Pokemon Unite spin-off recently announced that Magikarp and Gyarados will soon be making their way to the game, on January 25.
The two aren’t the only ones who were added to the roster recently – Metagross and Meowscarada – the latter of which first appeared on Pokemon SV – likewise made their debut at the end of 2023. You can check out some gameplay samples in the video below:
Launched for both the Nintendo Switch as well as mobile devices, Pokemon Unite is the first MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) to officially feature characters from the popular role-playing game series.
While a lot of elements from the mainline games have been brought over, the game is built around team-based combat with mechanics that are somewhat similar to other popular games in the genre such as DoTA and League of Legends. With that being said, the game adds some twists to the genre, such as a 10-minute time limit as well as some unique mechanics.
