The majority of flagship phones these days come with an IP67 or IP68 rating when it comes to dust and water resistance. While it’s far from being waterproof, it does add a bit of peace of mind in the event that your phone accidentally gets wet.

The good news is that if you’re eyeing the ASUS ROG Phone 8, ASUS has confirmed in a post on Weibo that the upcoming flagship handset will come with an IP68 rating. This is pretty awesome and a huge upgrade over its predecessor, the ROG Phone 7, which for context only had an IP54 rating.

Once again, this doesn’t mean that you should take the ROG Phone 8 swimming with you, but if you ever drop it in the pool or a puddle of water, you don’t have to worry as much. ASUS has been slowly teasing the ROG Phone 8 where it is expected that the handset will launch in 2024.

Some of the details they’ve shared include how it will come with a brand new camera system, although what exactly this entails remains to be seen. So, if you’re looking for a brand new gaming smartphone, then perhaps the ROG Phone 8 could be a handset to look out for in 2024.
