Usually a company’s website has enough information about a product or service where you can read through it and get the information you want, but what if there are more questions? That’s where FAQs come in, but it seems that Google is trying to leverage its AI investment by introducing a new “AI support assistant” feature.
A report from 9to5Google has revealed that Google has started to roll out a new AI support assistant tool on some of its Google Help pages. This is basically a chatbot where users can chat with this AI assistant to ask it questions about Google’s own products and services that you might not be too clear about.
While chatbots aren’t new, most of them can be quite “dumb” in the sense that you have to use very specific syntaxes to ask it a question, or just pick from a pre-selected list of questions. With the use of AI, especially with Google deploying the use of large language models, users will be able to chat with this AI using natural language and feel like they’re chatting with a human.
At the moment it doesn’t appear to be a fully functioning feature yet. Google notes that the AI assistant is “still learning” and with every reply, users can rate how helpful it was in order to allow Google to learn and make tweaks. It’s pretty cool and to be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised if AI chatbots start becoming a common feature on many websites in the future.
