ASUS unveils the ExpertBook CX54 Chromebook Plus laptop

Chromebooks are great affordable alternatives to Windows powered laptops, but if you wanted a Chromebook with a little bit more juice, then you might want to check out ASUS’ latest laptop, the ExpertBook CX54, which is also the company’s first Chromebook Plus computer.

Under the hood, the brand new Intel Core Ultra 7 processor can be found, making it the first Chromebook to utilize the technology. The laptop will also come with a 14-inch 2560×1600 display where users can opt to have it touch-enabled, and users can also configure it to pack as much as 16GB of RAM, and an M.2 SSD up to 512GB in storage.

The laptop itself will also come with a host of ports including 2x Thunderbolt 4, 1 HDMI 2.1 port for external display connectivity, 2x USB-A ports, and 1x microSD card slot if you need more storage or the option for removable storage like when transferring photos from a camera to a computer.

For those unfamiliar, a couple of months ago Google announced the Chromebook Plus standard of laptops. These are essentially Chromebooks which have a higher hardware requirement. The idea is that users who want the Chromebook experience but want to be able to do more with their computers can look at the Chromebook Plus lineup instead of the regular Chromebooks.

As for pricing and availability, ASUS has not mentioned when the ExpertBook CX will be available or how much it will cost, but hopefully we’ll have more details moving into 2024.
