Meta brings its AI image generation tool to the web
Generating images using AI has been something many people have been doing or wanting to do for a while now. While there is some debate as to whether or not this is considered art and whether or not it can eventually take away jobs from humans, there is no doubt that such tools are pretty useful in a pinch.
If you’re curious about using AI to generate custom images based on text prompts, then you might be interested to learn that Meta has announced that they will be launching its Imagine AI image generation tool on the web.
“Today, we’re expanding access to imagine outside of chats, making it available in the US to start at imagine.meta.com. This standalone experience for creative hobbyists lets you create images with technology from Emu, our image foundation model. While our messaging experience is designed for more playful, back-and-forth interactions, you can now create free images on the web, too.”
Prior to this, the tool was available on mobile through Meta’s messenger apps, but if you’re looking to use the tool on your computer, you will now be able to. Take note that this is only available for users living in the US at the moment, but presumably it will eventually expand to other regions.
The tool is free to use for now, but we wouldn’t be surprised if companies were to eventually start charging for it, especially considering that a lot of the processing is done in data servers that no doubt take up a lot of resources to maintain.
