Honor Sells More than 1 Million Foldables in China

Honor’s move to establish itself as a separate brand from former parent company Huawei has been a rather successful one, resulting in some impressive hardware in the past few years. With that in mind, it looks like the company’s efforts at market growth have yielded favourable results, according to new reports online.

Research firm Omdia recently published new data indicating that Honor has managed to manufacture more than one million units of foldable Android devices, placing it first in China’s foldable market for Q3 2023. The company’s Honor Magic V2 proved to be a relatively popular device among consumers, packing impressive performance as well as a premium design.

Based on Omdia’s findings, Honor managed to gain 28% of the foldable market in China for Q3 2023, followed by Huawei at 26%, Samsung at 19%, with OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi and Motorola trailing behind. Additionally, Omdia states that Chinese brands “have taken the lead in crucial design indicators of foldable smartphones in 2H23.” Analyst Zaker Li comments:

Owing to the gradually accumulating advantages of the foldable smartphone supply chain, Chinese companies are gradually leading their peers in the design of lightweight foldable smartphones. The development of the Chinese foldable smartphone market will also promote China’s transition from traditional manufacturing to high-end manufacturing.
