Not an AI fan? Google could let users switch between Bard and “Classic Assistant”

The AI capabilities of ChatGPT and Google Bard are truly impressive. They are much more conversational compared to the digital assistants from before, but at the same time, we know that there might be some users who aren’t a big fan of AI or who don’t really need it.

Google seems to be aware of this because according to a post on X by AssembleDebug, it looks like Google could soon give users the option of switching to “Classic Assistant” when using Google Assistant if they’d rather not use Google Bard.

Unfortunately, based on what has been discovered, it seems that it won’t be a simple switch between digital assistants. The post claims that not all of Google Assistant’s usual settings will be available in the Assistant that comes bundled with Bard, so if you do switch to Classic Assistant, it won’t be the full-fledged experience that you might be familiar with.

It shouldn’t be surprising that Google is trying to move Assistant to become more AI-friendly. It’s the logical play here and in fact, we reckon it’s a good move as it could make our phones a lot more intuitive to use compared to before. At this point it is unclear when the full integration between Bard and Assistant will take place, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled.

In the meantime, will you be going full AI or do you think that maybe you’ll stick to the Classic Assistant?
