Microsoft Doesn’t Want You Using “Unauthorized” Accessories with your Xbox
One of the advantages with modern game consoles is that there’s a lot of different third-party accessories that you can use to enhance your gaming experience, and this can include anything from controllers, headphones, mice, and more. With that in mind, it seems that an Xbox owners who use third-party gear have come across a rather inconvenient issue.
More specifically, there have been growing reports of players encountering “error 0x82d60002” when trying to connect certain accessories to their Xbox console. This is accompanied by an on-screen message stating that “using unauthorized accessories compromises your gaming experience”. According to an official support note from Microsoft, the error appears if a player attempts to use a product that “was not manufactured by Microsoft or another licensed Xbox hardware partner.”
0x82d60002, you’ll have two weeks to use the accessory, after which time it will then be blocked from use with the console. At that time, you’ll receive error code 0x82d60003. We encourage you to contact the store or manufacturer where you obtained the accessory to get help with returning it.
It’s thought that this stems from a move on Microsoft’s efforts to crack down on online cheating, although it seems to have affected users with legitimate products as well.
