Laifen Swift SE review: the hairdryer upgrade you’ve been waiting for

0

After using the same hair dryer for over ten years, it was definitely time for an upgrade. The Laifen Swift SE’s compact design in my favorite color had me smiling as soon as I opened the box. I was immediately struck by how small and lightweight it was and knew I could travel with this dryer without sacrificing room in my suitcase. But would it work as good as it looked?

The Laifen Swift SE high-speed hair dryer promises to dry hair 5x faster than traditional dryers with zero heat damage. It’s powered by the company’s proprietary 105,000 rpm brushless motor which generates a powerful airflow that quickly dries hair without overheating it. It boasts an airflow speed of 21 m/s along with three heat and three speed settings. The SE also features innovative Temperature Cycling Mode which automatically alternates between hot and cool air to protect hair from heat damage. All this while only weighing .89 lbs and measuring 10.9 x 2.7 x 3.5 inches.

I truly love the sleek and stylish modern design of the Swift SE. It’s lightweight and easy to hold, even for extended periods of time. My hand did end up on the heat setting button the first few times I dried my hair, but I quickly found the perfect hold and grip after a few more uses that prevented this. The three heat settings and three speed settings have a user-friendly interface that allows you to see your heat setting with its 3 color LED ring light. Blue for cold, yellow for medium and red for high. The Temperature Cycling Mode cycles through each color and more importantly helps protect hair from heat damage.

I mainly use the SE to dry my curly hair with the diffuser nozzle which helps define my curls and reduce frizz. I’m able to dry much faster than with my old traditional dryer. On the occasion I do choose to straighten my hair, the concentrator nozzle is effective at smoothing out my hair and creating a sleek look in half the time of my previous hair dryer. I would say the drying time is probably twice as fast, not the 5xs faster they claim.

The SE comes with two magnetic nozzles: a diffuser nozzle and a concentrator nozzle. The diffuser nozzle is perfect for drying my curly hair, while the concentrator nozzle is ideal for allowing me to straighten my hair quickly. The nozzles are easy to attach and remove and they stay firmly in place while drying your hair. I recommend running the cool heat setting for a short time before trying to remove the nozzles to prevent burning your fingers on a hot nozzle.

Another noticeable difference of Laifen Swift SE compared to my old hair dryer is the noise level. Laifen claims the noise level comes in at 59dB. In my home, when the dryer was used in the bathroom with the door closed, it sounded like someone was running the sink faucet on high instead of running a hair dryer.

Overall, I’m impressed with the Swift SE. It’s a powerful hair dryer that works quickly and efficiently, even on the lowest heat setting. I’m impressed with its power and versatility that allows me and my family to style our different hair types in a gentle way. It’s the fastest hair dryer I’ve ever used and it leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth.
