WhatsApp gets even more private with self-destructing voice messages
When it comes to privacy, WhatsApp has several options at the disposal of its users. But now it looks like users can look forward to one more privacy feature, especially if they tend to send a lot of voice messages.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, they have discovered in the latest beta of the app that WhatsApp is now testing out self-destructing voice messages. This works similar to self-destructing photos where users can enable it so that whenever the photo or voice message is opened, it will delete itself once it has been closed.
Prior to this, this feature was only available for photos, so it’s good to see it being made available for voice messages too, especially in this day and age where deepfakes are running rampant and your voice could be easily sampled and used for nefarious purposes. Or maybe you just don’t like the idea of someone holding onto a recording of your voice.
Whatever your reasons might be, this could be a useful privacy feature to have. As mentioned earlier, WhatsApp also has other privacy-related features including disappearing messages which will self-delete after a set period of time. The feature isn’t live yet for the public, but if you’re a beta tester you might be able to access it. If not, you’ll have to wait like the rest of us once WhatsApp deems that the feature is ready for the masses.
