whatsapp multi-account

It’s about time! WhatsApp will soon support multi-accounts

If you ever wanted to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device, you’ll be happy to learn that in a Facebook post by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, multi-account support will soon be coming to WhatsApp.

Prior to this, users who wanted to use different WhatsApp accounts on a single device had to find workarounds or hacks to achieve this, making it kind of annoying and inefficient. Now with the launch of the feature, users will be able to skip all the hassle.

We have been hearing reports and seeing beta screenshots of the feature in action for a while now, so it’s good to see that it’s finally here, but before you get too excited, there are some caveats. One of the caveats is that the device you’re using might need to have dual SIM connectivity.

This is because in order to log into a WhatsApp account, you’ll need to enter an OTP that is sent to the number associated with that account. We’re not sure if this will work if you have a second phone and the OTP is sent to the secondary phone but you log in using your primary device, so that might be worth exploring if your phone doesn’t support dual SIM connectivity.

At the moment, multi-account support is only limited to two accounts. There is no mention as to whether this could expand to more accounts in the future so we’ll have to wait and see.
