Samsung’s next Exynos chipset could be a gaming disappointment
Samsung is rumored to bring back its Exynos chipsets next year in its Galaxy S24 series of phones. For those who are in the regions who usually get these chipsets, you might be a little disappointed on the gaming front.
This is because leaked benchmarks have revealed the GPU performance of the rumored Exynos 2400, and it is kind of a let down. The GPU in question is the Xclipse 940, the successor to the Xclipse 920 found in the Exynos 2200 and based on the benchmarks, it seems that it underperforms the Adreon 740 which is used in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

This means that for a chipset launching in 2024 and is expected to power one of the most anticipated flagships of 2024, it isn’t even on par with a chipset that launched in 2023. Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have been facing a lot of criticisms over the years and if these benchmarks are accurate, we’re not sure how Samsung plans to explain this away.
To be fair, unless you plan to game a lot or use apps that require a powerful GPU, chances are in your daily use this probably won’t matter as much. But at the same time, it does feel a bit unfair since customers are essentially paying the same price but are getting different performances.
