Gmail for Wear OS finally lets you check your emails on your wrist

0

It’s a little odd that despite Wear OS and Gmail both being Google products that the company has never bothered to create a dedicated Wear OS app. The good news is that if you like being able to interact with your emails on your wrist, you’ll be pleased to learn that Gmail for Wear OS is finally here.

The app was initially announced at I/O 2023 earlier this year, and following the launch of the Pixel Watch 2, users will now be able to download the dedicated app from the Google Play Store. Take note that this will only work with devices running Wear OS 3 onwards, so if you have an older Wear OS smartwatch you’ll be out of luck.

Prior to this, Gmail on Wear OS was pretty much limited to notifications. You would be notified whenever you receive an email but that was it. You would still need to use your phone if you wanted to view your inbox, but now with the dedicated Wear OS app, users will now be able to view their inbox, open up full emails, and so on.

The app will also be introducing a new watch face complication that lets you see at a glance if you have new emails waiting for you, so check it out if this is something you have been looking forward to.
