Podcasts are a great way to entertain yourself while you’re on the go if you’re not so inclined to listen to music or want something different. They’re also great for trips where you might want to put on a podcast while you’re on the plane, train, or while driving.
The good news for YouTube Music users is that according to a report from 9to5Google, they have discovered that YouTube Music now has the ability to automatically download podcasts that you are listening to.
Seeing as how many podcasts are released episodically, YouTube Music now has an option for users to “Turn on auto-downloads”. Once this feature has been enabled, whenever a new episode of the podcast you’re listening to or are following is released, it will be automatically downloaded to your phone.
This could also be useful if you don’t have time to listen to these podcasts but want a way to collect them so that you can catch up later. Also, as 9to5Google notes, it does not seem like podcasts that you’ve finished listening to are automatically deleted. This is versus Google Podcasts (which will be shutting down next year) which had a feature to remove a completed episode where users could set a duration.
It is possible that YouTube Music will gain that feature later on, but for now it does not have it so users will need to remove them manually.
