Android 14 Expected to Arrive Alongside the Pixel 8 Series

It’s been long overdue, but Pixel owners are in for a treat – it’s expected that Google might roll out the latest Android 14 update alongside the arrival of the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, during the company’s launch event scheduled on October 4.

This new information comes by a post on Canadian carrier Telus’ official community forum page, which lists several update schedules for various smartphones from different manufacturers. As such, the list includes several Pixel models, which are stated to get the “Android U” (aka Android 14) software update on October 4.

Based on the amount of Android 14 beta updates that we’ve gotten this year, it would seem that the update was delayed a bit more than usual, although it’s not exactly uncommon for Google to launch a major Android update alongside a hardware release. With that being said however, last year’s Android 13 update arrived in August, a few months before the launch of the Pixel 7.

This information also ties in with a report from Mishaal Rahman, who claims that the AOSP release of Android 14 has been delayed to next month. The post states that OEMs were informed that the vulnerabilities detailed in the Security Release Notes will be published on the 4th of October, the same date as the Pixel 8 launch.
