New Pixel Leaks Highlight Google’s “Actua” Hardware Branding

At this point, we probably know everything there is to know about the Google Pixel 8 series, thanks to the abundance of leaked materials scattered all over the internet. While it’s expected that Google will pack some new features like its new Tensor G3 chip into the phones, new leaks show that the Pixel 8 phones will come with another Google-exclusive feature, at least in terms of branding.

A recent post from online tech leaker Evan Blass gives a detailed list of the spec and feature differences between several Google phones, including the Pixel 7a, Pixel 7, and the Pixel 8 models. Over on the display section of the photo, Google specifies that the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will come with “Actua” displays, something unseen before on older Pixel devices.

At the moment it’s unclear what prompted Google to use this hardware branding for its upcoming phones, although we can expect this to be in relation to new hardware upgrades with the display on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. In terms of pricing, it’s predicted that the Pixel 8 will be priced at $699, while the more expensive 8 Pro model will start at $899.

Google is set to announce its new Pixel hardware on October 4.
