Oppo Launches the A18, a New Budget-friendly Phone

Just a few weeks after the debut of the Oppo A38, Oppo once again unveiled a new wallet-friendly smartphone with the Oppo A18, which was spotted on the company’s UAE website. Similar to the A38, the A18 comes with entry-level hardware specifications.

In terms of hardware, the phone packs a 6.56-inch display with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, a common configuration on most budget smartphones these days. It’s an LCD panel though, so don’t expect any OLED hardware onboard. The phone’s chassis is primarily made out of polycarbonate, and will be available in black and blue variants.

Inside, the Oppo A18 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 chip, another common sight on entry-level handsets. This is paired with 4GB of RAM alongside 128GB of expandable storage, so users looking to beef up the phone with a micro SD card are in luck here. The phone runs on a 5,000 mAh battery, which should be enough for more than a day’s worth of use. The phone features Oppo’s custom Color OS, layered with Android 13 underneath.

As for camera hardware, the phone comes with an 8MP f/2.0 main camera with autofocus, accompanied by a 2MP f/2.4 mono camera, and a 5MP selfie camera in front. Meanwhile, video maxes out at 1080p resolution at 30fps. There’s no word on pricing at the moment, although Oppo might announce more details soon.
