Google Officially Shows off Pixel 8 Series Design; Teases Pixel Watch 2

After several leaks and rumors and initial teasers, Google has finally decided to go ahead and pull the wraps off its upcoming smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The devices were once again teased via a short video posted on Google’s official social media pages.

Unsurprisingly, the new phones bear a lot of resemblance to last year’s Pixel 7 series, especially with the metal camera bar and frame that’s featured prominently on the rear panel of the phones. There are some differences however, such as the more rounded corners on the Pixel 8 phones, as well as the single camera window on the 8 Pro model. You can watch the video using this link.

Perhaps the biggest difference will be this year’s processor – it’s pretty much expected at this point that the Pixel 8 series devices will run on the Google Tensor G3 chipset, which succeeds last year’s Tensor G2 chip. There’s a lot riding on the G3, especially given the issues that some users have experienced on the G2-powered Pixels.

Additionally, Google also mentioned that the Pixel Watch 2 will be launched on the same day as its new handsets, alongside a new Pixel buds model. The big reveal will take place on October 8, just shy of a month after Apple makes its iPhone 15 announcement.
