In October, Google will be officially announcing their new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. Based on previous launches, we have a rough idea of how much the phones could cost, but thanks to a report from TheTechOutlook, we might have a more specific idea of the phones’ prices.
According to the post, it seems that both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro could see a price hike, at least as far as the European market is concerned. The price for the base Pixel 8 model is rumored to cost €874.25, while the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to cost starting €1,235, both of which are for the 128GB models.
This is quite a huge jump, but keep in mind that prior to this leak, there have been rumors that Google could increase the price of the phones. The company has already increased the price of the Pixel 7a over its predecessor by $50, so it would stand to reason that for the Pixel 8 series, Google could try to increase the gap to make the Pixel 7a seem “cheaper”.
It is a pity that we’re seeing a price hike, especially since Google’s Pixel phones have typically been cheaper compared to other flagships, but at the same time it’s not entirely surprising. Either way, we’ll have more details at Google’s event next month so check back with us then for more official updates.
