Back in 2022, Sony announced the Xperia 5 IV. If you didn’t upgrade to last year’s model, then you might be interested to learn that Sony is expected to follow up with a successor and that will be taking place on the 1st of September, 2023.
Sony has confirmed that they will be announcing a new Xperia handset on the 1st of September at 4PM Japan time, with a livestream that can be watched from YouTube. The teaser trailer (see video below) does not mention what phone will be launched, but it is largely expected that it will be the Xperia 5 V.
The teaser also seems to hype up the phone’s camera capabilities. If there is one area Sony is particularly strong in, it would be its cameras. The company supplies a good many Android handset makers with camera sensors, even working with Xiaomi to bring 1-inch sensors to smartphones, so we are hoping to see something spectacular from the company this year.
As for the rest of its specs, it should be standard fare as far as flagships are concerned. We’re looking at the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as its chipset of choice, as well as up to 16GB of RAM. In any case, if you’re interested to learn more, check back with us next Friday for the details.
