How to SIM unlock the Google Pixel 7a for FREE

If you’re looking for a cheap Pixel phone, then Google’s recently launched Pixel 7a might be the phone for you. For all intents and purposes, the Pixel 7a is more or less like its more expensive sibling, the Pixel 7, with some slight changes in its hardware that brings the cost down so that Google can position it as an affordable Android phone.

Now, even though the Pixel 7a is somewhat affordable, some of you might choose to buy it from a carrier through a contract so you don’t have to pay the full amount upfront. If you do, then there’s a chance that the phone’s SIM could be locked to the carrier’s network. This makes it tricky if you want to use it on a different carrier or overseas.

Luckily, if you do find yourself needing to unlock the Pixel 7a’s SIM, you’ve come to the right place. In the article below, we’ll show you a couple of different ways that you can go about it where you can unlock the SIM for free, or if that doesn’t work, you can use a SIM unlocking service like Android SIM Unlock.

Unlock the Pixel 7a for free

As we mentioned, you can unlock the SIM of your Pixel 7a for free and this is actually done through your carrier. Keep in mind that there are a couple of things you’ll need to consider first:

Also, the requirements to unlock the SIM may differ from carrier to carrier, so your best bet is to give them a call and see what they need from you. Assuming you do meet the requirements for unlocking your Pixel 7a’s SIM for free, these are the steps you’ll need to take:

  1. On your Google Pixel 7a handset, launch the Phone app and dial *#06# to pull up your phone’s IMEI number
  2. Write the IMEI number down somewhere so you can refer to it later
  3. Call your carrier and request for your SIM unlock code
  4. You will probably be asked to provide the IMEI for the Google Pixel 7a’s
  5. If you meet all the requirements that we mentioned above, the SIM unlock code will be sent to the email address you provided in the next 2-5 days.
  6. Once you’ve received your code, swap out the SIM with a SIM from another carrier
  7. Enter the SIM unlock code that you received in your email when prompted and you’re set!

Android SIM Unlock

Seeing as how the Pixel 7a is still a relatively new phone and less than a year old, there is a chance that your carrier may not be willing to unlock the SIM of your phone. If you do need its SIM unlocked because you’re planning to travel, then you might want to take a look at Android SIM Unlock’s services.

Note that this is a paid service but it is more or less guaranteed to work, so if you want to unlock the SIM of your Pixel 7a without all the fuss, then this is the best method.

  1. On your Google Pixel 7a phone, launch the Phone app and dial *#06# to get the device’s IMEI number
  2. Write the IMEI number down
  3. Go to Android SIM Unlock’s website
  4. Enter your device’s IMEI number
  5. Complete the checkout process with your payment and contact information
  6. Once payment is made, you should then receive the Google Pixel 7a’s unlock code either through SMS or email
  7. The moment you’ve received your code, you can then swap out the SIM on your phone with a SIM from another carrier
  8. You should be prompted to enter the SIM unlock code that you received in your email, and once you’ve done that, you should be good to go

We would also like to remind you that unlocking the SIM of your Pixel 7a does not release you from the contract you have with your carrier. You’ll still be required to make all the payments on time, the only difference is that now you have the freedom of being able to use your Pixel 7a with any SIM you want.
