Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s telephoto camera will get an upgrade

0

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series will be launching next year, and apart from the usual upgrades in its chipset, one of the potential upgrades will be in the camera department where it seems that the telephoto camera will be seeing a bump in its resolution.

This is according to a post by tipster Ice Universe who claims that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could see the use of a new 50MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom. As it stands, the Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, so the main upgrade here will be to its sensor, where at 50MP it will be able to snap higher-resolution photos.

There is no mention about the other cameras on the phone, so for now it looks like only the telephoto camera will see an upgrade. Either way, it’s a good thing. Some people might think that telephoto cameras are only good at taking photos far away, which is true and that’s one of the reasons it is used for.

But photographers know that telephoto lenses can also be used for other purposes, like shooting portraits or even landscapes. This is because telephoto lenses can help create a more “compressed” look that will give portraits and landscapes a slightly different feel compared to other types of lenses like wide-angles or 35mm lenses.

Either way, we’re still about 6 months or so away from the phone’s official launch, so take it with a grain of salt for now.
